The LCW consists of molded plywood seat, back, and leg elements connected through rubber-and-metal shock mounts. This system allows the chair to flex slightly while distributing stress across the structure. Many of the techniques used in its production emerged from the Eameses' wartime molded plywood work for the U.S. Navy.
