Introduced in 1945, the LCW (Lounge Chair Wood) distilled years of experimentation with molded plywood into a remarkably simple form. Rather than forcing plywood into a single complex shape, Charles and Ray Eames divided the chair into separate components, creating a design that was both structurally efficient and visually light.
